I read for example, the hitch weight on the Jayco 32TSBH is 815 lbs. Is this unloaded or loaded? If unloaded, is there really a way to know the loaded weight?
Simple answer would be --- Not without carrying a scale.
You can get fairly close with using average load weights. Average load of dishes, pots and pans, bedding, camp chairs, BBQ, groceries, water, etc, is about 1000 lbs. For longer trips, or full timing, that weight could be a bit higher. However, tongue weight is not a constant number. It goes up and down during every trip. Constantly changing.
Groceries and water get used up. black and grey tanks gain weight, sometimes, you may be in a situation where you need to tow some distance to a dump station.
Depending on location of the holding tanks, in relation to the trailer axles, tongue weight can fluctuate considerably.
My trailer has the fresh tank behind the axles, black and grey tanks are above the axles, and galley tank is in front of the axles. Depending on various tank levels, my tongue weight can run anywhere between 975 and 1250 lbs. Dry weight was advertised at 885.
