Where did you find a Suburban with 2700 pounds of payload? I've never seen one that high!
That was the dealer, but I think that's factory, without consideration of the individual vehicles, so you are probably right.
One I called on today was only 1991, so you are probably right. I will be short by just a few hundred lbs :(

That spreadsheet looks great! Except i'm confused about your hitch weight value.
Right, because I cant buy the trailer till I know I can get the right car and vice versa, so I took factory hitch weight specs (940 / 8075 = 12%) and used that 12% to estimate the hitch weight when loaded: 12% x 9600 = 1,118. That 9600 figure was made of the max trailer weight (loaded), then subtracting the passenger weight from it.
If I knew your factory specs on your trailer, I could test the formulas to see how accurate they compare. I am curious.
Van hitch question:
I guess if I go with the van option, should I have just any 4x4 shop do the work of a new hitch? I am concerned about proper safety/limits of the vehicle.
Heck, even the E-450 vans are starting to look interesting regardless of their appearance.
