Right, because I cant buy the trailer till I know I can get the right car and vice versa, so I took factory hitch weight specs (940 / 8075 = 12%) and used that 12% to estimate the hitch weight when loaded: 12% x 9600 = 1,118. That 9600 figure was made of the max trailer weight (loaded), then subtracting the passenger weight from it.
I maybe completely wrong about this, but why are you substracting passenger weight from the GVWR of the trailer? If my thinking is correct, the GVWR of the trailer never includes the people who will occupy it when it's stopped. Trailers don't have passengers.
