What to do about a useless limited slip rear end?

My 2001 ¾ ton Dodge has a limited slip rear end and is about useless ever since I got in in 2005. It now has 77,000 miles on it and works great, except for traction and A/C. I get stuck pulling ...

My son in law has a 2002 3/4 ton Dodge Diesel extended cab long bed.
That truck gets stuck on top of wet grass. It has been that way since brand new. Great truck as long as he stays on the pavement.
