What type of camp chairs?

OK I have all kinds of camp chairs but I have not found that perfect one yet and am still looking. Question is what camper chairs are you using? I don't really like the folding ones that have the cross bars under your legs as they always cut into my outer leg and the back sags down on them and doesn't give any back support makes it very uncomfortable. I want them to be compact and stow away in smaller places. Looking for all recommendations. Also don't want to take up the room for the recliner ones like the zero gravity ones, I know they are comfortable but don't have the room.

  • My husband swears that the Pico chair I gave him is the most comfortable outdoor chair EVER, and it folds up small enough that he carries it with him on motorcycle trips! He's a 200 pound six-footer with back trouble, and says the backrest hits him in just the right place.
Pretty expensive, but worth it. Link

  • We bought Northwest Terretory Directors Chairs from Kmart $35. They are comfortable and light weight.

Checked on other Directors chairs and found some are VERY heavy and/or expensive. Also bought some reclining gravity chairs that we only use at home- Those also very heavy. Will also be watching this post for others suggestions.
  • Longest lasting ones we have are the Zipdee ones we bought about 30 years ago and still look like new. Other than that DW likes her Coleman chairs with the fold up table.
  • In our CC we take the rear back off the wall and leave it at home, it just pops off, and then fold up the rear seat. Behind that, we then have room to store two high back cushioned reclining chairs that I have used for over 15 years now. They are on their third set of rubber feet, and have had to have special work done with epoxy and plastic parts and they fit there perfectly. I also have two small folding X type seats with a fabric seat that will support an adult, and we also take two plywood pieces that just sit on the X seats for our side tables. The seats make great footstools for reclining, and the table tops just sit on the ground beside to hold the compulsory beverage nearby.
  • We use the Coleman camp chairs with the side arm tablet of food and drinks. I think they are very comfortable. Chairs without the tablet arm leave one eating out of their lap and I don't care for that.
  • I've bought a bunch of different types over the years.

Most comfortable small one is the folding chair I picked up at a Pick and Save on a whim, folds small and lightweight. Travels nicely on the overhead bed.

Most comfortable overall is the "gravity chair" sold by a few different manufacturer/retailers but they don't fold to a point where they are really truck camper friendly.

Bag chairs are the easiest to store but I've not found one that I really like, of course I refuse to spend the big bucks and all the ones I've got were < $20. I do keep a couple of the better ones up beside the bed for when friends show up around the campfire.
  • We use the director style ones that fold flat. We can haul them hanging from the ladder or put them under the table. They are much more comfortable than the ones that fold into a bag.
