What type of overloads should I install

I currently have a 2005 30' Aljo TT which I pull with my 2006 Dodge 2500 Turbo Cummins p/u. I will be buying a 5th wheel in October, so as you can imagine I have many questions. I have already nailed down what I can haul, but I have questions if I should install overload springs, airbags which work better? We usually have 2 adults, one lid and the dog along with firewood and bicycles in the truck. Going 5th wheel we will have to figure on another stow location. Thank you any and all info and advice is welcome and much appreciated.

  • You probably won't know if you need additional support to keep everything level, or close thereto, until you hook up. I've been researching and think something like the Firestone airbags with an onboard compressor will work with my F350, and I think there's a set made for your truck, too.
  • With a 3/4 ton truck your main concern will be payload. That is usually the limiting factor on what you can safely tow. Adding things like heavier springs will not affect the strength of your vehicle axles which is the final controlling factor on your truck.
  • Look into Timbren SES. I've had them on my truck for 10 years and they work great, no maintenance and lifetime warranty.
