Agree 100% why buy an old bus and have to do all that work when for similar money they could buy an old class A and have a nicer interior, toilet and tanks, etc.
Better to buy the older A and then work on the mechanicals to ensure it'll be reliable for the trip. (Tires, brakes, belts,,battety, cooling system, Trans, rear, etc)
