Hey my friend Ben, thanks for the comments...I think I need to clarify. The pic above is not my van. I do not have a reinforced receiver hitch on my van as I use the receiver and van within its specs. I do believe that modern monocoque TV's do a great job. Some of them are handling upwards of 800 lbs in weight distribution per the rating.
The OP has a vehicle that he is happy with and got concerned about the receiver. If there is to much flex in the receiver than a new receiver is in order...if no new receiver is available then reinforcing is a viable option. Again, it's my understanding that the OP is satisfied with the combo.
In my mind it's no different than the 2500 Suburban from 07 and up with the wimpy integrated receiver. Strong frame, strong engine, strong transmission, the receiver is the weak link in that application. If I needed to I would reinforce that receiver (07-up Sub 2500) and not even think about it.
I know what you mean about having an adaquate TV. You helped me through that with my TT. I had the 32 ft TT and pulled it with a 97 F150. I had to do a foot of fine tuning but I got it dialed in pretty well. Once I got my Dually it literally took me about 20 minutes to set it up properly. I adjusted the WD hitch so that the trailer was level and I added some tension on the WD bars and added my sway bars. Easy Peazy tow set up.
Thanks!
