- downtheroadExplorerLooking at the second picture, I think you could unscrew the side trim pieces and open it up for a peek.
My bet is that it's full of tangled up wires for your sound system, - K_CharlesExplorerBig brother.
- OBSPowerstrokeExplorerDowntheroad's guess is correct; it's likely a rats nest of wires. I have a similar setup on my trailer and have had the radio out a couple times for various projects; one of which was to wire in a switch to kill the back lighting on the radio when I wasn't using it without killing power to it completely and losing the time and all my presets. Here's a pic I had handy showing the switch:
- kearlmsExplorerI would have to agree. If this is the case it sure is a waste of space.

- RoyBExplorer IIIf the TV is on the other side of this compartment perhaps you can remove the TV SET and see the rear of this unit... TV may be a swing out thing...
Roy Ken - dodge_guyExplorer IIIf they mounted a TV on the outside of the trailer LOL. What I would do and what I actually did was remove the panels and make a compartment to house the radio and wiring. Then use he new found space for anything you want to do with it. On my trailer they used up a huge storage space for my charger, converter, circuit breaker box, and it was closed up and very hot. I now have a place to store shoes and other things and the converter can breather better!
- goducks10ExplorerYour outside speaker is in there. Probably closed off as well. But you never know.

That's next on my agenda. I completely gutted one of these two years ago and have an idea of how sloppy everything is. I can barely get my 30 Amp cord into the bay and I'm sure there is a mess in there. I have to disassemble the sofa to remove the panel but it'll be fairly easy.
I may put a standard house hvac return grill on the front for simpler access in the future and to allow some airflow. - RAMwoodworksExplorer

Forgot it even had an outside speaker. It is right there.
