What's the best battery setup for 200w solar?

My Lance has (2) 100w panels and a 30a controller. It has a single battery compartment and after sitting covered since fall, the battery is dead of course after I pulled out t out to get ready for summer. I'm either going to replace with a single AGM or some tell me to go with two 6v golf cart batts?
I have 2 AGM's in my travel trailer with 400w on the roof and it does great but the Lance is more compact with one battery compartment.

So two 6v or 1 AGM?

  • Battery box on the Lance is a single. Pretty much answered my own question. I'll go with a large AGM for now. Maybe add another to a storage area later if needed. I've got a Honda 2000 to make it work as needed.
  • Remember that AGM's can be laid on their side, or at an angle with zero adverse effect. You can also remove the slide tray to create more room or add a torqlift hidden power battery box on the truck frame under the bed. I was able to stuff two group 31 AGM's into my Lance 1055 to go along with my 200 watts of solar
  • Have you determined your daily energy use? Get batts of at least four times your daily use. Generally 200 solar watts can recharge a 200 amp battery bank. I use 50 to 65 amps per day and have 300 solar watts recharging T125s at 240. Usually full by noon. Works great.
  • So the 'single' battery compartment will hold 2 batteries? I would not choose to go flooded battery over AGM. Agm's are just too nice and maintenance free.
