The reason I put this in the towing forum is it's a towing question.
If I put the 350lbs into a trailer, is it better or worse, given the trailer has its own weight addded to the GVWR? It lightens the axles, but adds more weight overall.
I'm not sure what's right here which is why I had the thread in towing.
We have a truck camper forum that some members tow trailers also. Those folks understand how to mod a truck to safely carry more weight. Over there you can get more input from actual experience instead of rv weight cop replies like the one that implied he didn't want to travel the same roads you will be traveling on.
As mentioned your 2nd gen 2500 Dodge with the manual tranny is without a doubt one of the most underrated LDT on the road. However you have the rig so if it was me I would weight the trucks front and rear axle separately that way you know if a tire/wheel/rear suspension is overloaded.
One of my firewood customers has a 2nd gen 4wd 2500 Cummins NV5600 manual tranny with the Dana 80 rear axle aux upper over load spring packs. He loads around 3200-3400 lbs in the truck bed and a 18' 10k car hauler with most of the wood on the trailers axles. The trucks rear doesn't squat at all and he has no mods.
Ask the mod to move your thread over to the truck camper forum as some over there may have the same combo's.
