Depends on your definition of "long distance".
In last year my 20+ years HF trailer (paid $190 for it at the time) did make 2 round trips from San Francisco to Las Vegas (560 miles 1 way).
I upgraded the tires long time ago, but the 1000 lb trailer have seen 2000 lb loads in its life as well.
My trailer come with grease jerks at the hubs, so every 5 or 10 years I pump some grease in it. That's all.
Sounds like HF got hammered over the trailer lights?
