Suggest going to a frame/axle/suspension shop with experience in TT bearings and ask them to explain what can go wrong with the Chinese bearings that we get in TTs. If lucky, maybe they have a failed bearing they can show you. Ignoring bearing inspection and servicing for long periods of time is like playing with fire.
For the minimal cost at a shop, can't see why there's so much resistance to getting a periodic brake and bearing inspection/repack. Cheap insurance... People spend tens of thousands on a TT yet balk at spending a couple hundred at a shop for a service and inspection.
