For the minimal cost at a shop, can't see why there's so much resistance to getting a periodic brake and bearing inspection/repack. Cheap insurance... People spend tens of thousands on a TT yet balk at spending a couple hundred at a shop for a service and inspection.

Agree, and as I've said before, this is a good oppty to look over the brakes, and of course readjust them when all back together.
No matter where the country of origin, I do like to give the bearings a look over. I just re-use them if they look good.
The irony of a failed bearing for me personally, is that the only one I have had fail in the last thirty years, was one of the OE bearings in my Nissan Frontier. No idea where it was made, I didn't think to get the old bearing. Dealer replaced it for me.
