It depends on your camper for access from the inside or from the rear. I have access doors and store things in dry bags (shoes, kitty litter, shop vac, etc) in front of the wheel well, things in the rear part could fall out if they were small. I could put skis in before loading but wouldn't be able to get them out without off-loading the camper.
