Wheels

In anticipation of getting the Cascade next month I'm putting 19.5 inch visions on my GMC 3500 srw. I'm looking at bfgoodrich g rated tires. They are street tread. The other tire is a uniroyale semi aggressive tread. Having never had this size tires before should I be aware of any significant difference in handling or ride or noise?. I do drive 90 plus on highway. I know some of you have made this change and wanted to see what comments you might have maybe Bedlam. Both tires are 245/70/r19.5. Thanks Eddie
  • If the truck is empty will lowering air pressure help ride with the 19.5s. Boy you guys got me concerned
  • Well I hope I have better luck l have blisten shocks, is my ride going to very stiff and rough. When I had my first tires they were street Michlen LT. They were so slick they would not come off wet grass. When I went to mild agreesive LT the ride was not compromised. Trying to figure out the best option. With the investment in the Visions and tires I sure need this to work. If there is a better tire option for handling or tracking sure need to know. Thanks
  • I haven’t run them on my camper truck but I’ve had them on various work trucks.
You can put me in the “hate ‘em” category too. They tend to be hard to balance, traction is pretty poor, they’re really hard riding.
They do wear well and have crazy-high load capacity. But I don’t like them.
  • Not even thinking about it but I take it the sidewalls on the 19.5's are less depth (tread to bead).

But then some people on here think there is nothing better than TorkLift Fast Guns too. I find the alternative to be just fine.
  • My experience with 19.5's on my 2002 Super Duty was a rougher ride because of the stiff side walls. That truck was stiff already, so almost unbearable even with Rancho 9k's. I also had to put it in 4X4 backing up my sloped driveway when raining because lack of traction. The first 1000 miles were down right dangerous because of "tracking" issues, got better after a while, still a kinda bad when I sold them for a $700 loss and about 3,00 miles or so.
I know some people on here dig 'em, I hated 'em and sold them. The piece of mind with 7500 on my rear axle WAS nice, when not tracking into the next lane. I went with BFG TKO 2's after selling them, they sucked also. They caused trailer sway on a perfectly setup TT, heard of others with similar results with TKO 2's. I FINALLY found a good setup with Michelins and a DRW.

My setup was Vision 81's with Roadmaster RM253's. https://simpletire.com/cooper-245-70r19.5-71845-tires

Good luck with your new setup, really like that camper you're picking up, A LOT. Hope 19.5's work out better than they did for me.
