The 1500 came out with full air ride option in 2008. My son inlaw has had one since 08 with no issues. I bought my wife a 2015 with air ride last year. Love it, rides like a dream. Wife pulled my dump trailer with 2 tons of sand on it, while I followed with the tractor, she didn't have any problems pulling it in the hills and curves.
Air Lift makes a kit for 2008 but factory didn't until 2013 for the 1500
RAM 2103 1500
My mistake, it came out in 2009 from the factory, as said previously, my son inlaw has one. - Me_AgainExplorer IIIWhat has Fish's cousin heard?

I believe the Ram 1500s came with optional air ride for the 2014 model year. You may want to check out the ram forums before buying though. There have been a lot of issues with the air ride, especially in colder climates.
90% of those "issues" are from people who do not understand how air suspension system works or have yet to read owners manual pertaining to the system itself. When you get comments like "when I lower the truck it makes a hissing sound"... duh... its letting the air! Or " I hear a sound like a air compressor when truck is being raised"... Really!? Or, had they read the owners manual they would have learned the system will not operate for safety reasons if a door is open or if the tailgate is down. Its like those who have bought a diesel and fill the tank up with gasoline and then blame the truck or dealer for the issues afterwards. Things have been simplified or dumbed down to the point people just take it for granted and blame others for their mistakes or lack of knowledge/understanding. - camp-n-familyExplorer

Just google "ram air suspension issues" and read on.....and on......
This is on the 3500?? I looked for info last night on TDR and the Cummins forum, and found very little if any of issues with 3500 rear air suspension.
Haven't seen anywhere that I just read "on and on" about issues
I have had and heard of ZERO issues with the 3500 system.
Why is everybody on about the 3500???? The OP is asking about the Ram 1500 air suspension. My response also states the 1500, which is the 1/2 ton. Pretty sure the 1500 system isn't the same as on the 3500 so you won't find the same problems on the Cummins forums. As mentioned, just google it. - Cummins12V98Explorer III"THIS" is a biggie for those with the 3500 rear air when unhitching. If you are slow about unhitching the rear air system will start trying to re level and give you a big startle when un hitching. I read on another forum of a guy thinking it was all the fault of his new to him B&W hitch.
So here is the way to unhitch and hitch if you so choose.
When backed into the spot where you want to unhitch go into "Settings" then select "Suspension" then select "Tire Jack Mode". This will keep the rear from moving while unhooking and hooking. I touch no controls after unhooking then the system goes back to Alt Ride Mode as I had it set. I leave mine in Alt ALL the time.
Hope this helps with someones frustration! - Cummins12V98Explorer III
