- rvshrinkerExplorer IIIThanks for all the tips. We'll use propane. Have boondocked for 4 days before without problems. Will not need ac or furnace for this part of the trip.
- wopachopExplorerMight be a good idea to check your propane hoses for leaks. Get soapy water and gently rock the hose back and forth. Mine will leak at the built in swivel. But only sometimes. Took me awhile to find it.
While driving down the road you wouldnt want a leak to ruin your food.
Someone on a different thread had mentioned squirting a little WD40 on the swivel joint. I did that and moved the swivel around. Hoping to clean the joint. It sorta worked. Meant to buy new hoses like 2-3 years ago. I still have the bad hose installed and make sure its not leaking after i move the trailer. Always have a bottle of soapy water with me. Same with a simple green mixture. They both come in handy a lot especially out camping. - ReneeGExplorerHubby won't run the fridge on propane underway, so we set it to electric and it runs off our solar system.
- Propane.
- Grit_dogNavigator^Fridge on DC will deplete RV battery either way unless a dedicated charging circuit is set up and verified.
Run it on LP period. Don’t overthink.
Next question..... - ppineExplorer IIpropane. You alternator is not enough.
- notevenExplorer IIIno.
yes.
maybe.
Pre-cool the RV fridge for 2 days before leaving,
Switch to electric 12 volt.
Have assistant rev up tow vehicle engine to 2000-2500rpms
Look at voltage reading in the RV electrical system. If it is not over 13.6volts the fridge will gradually flatten the rv batteries while you travel. - kellemExplorer48 hrs is very doable if you watch your light usage and don't run the furnace.
- midnightsadieExplorer IIon pp your frig uses very little 12v , you should be fine. BUT the furnace eats 12v. will kill a battery in a few hours. and the frig really doesn,t use much pp.check water in battery clean post charge before you go. if your equipt is in good shape you,ll have a fun trip. don,t take care of things it,ll bite you in the butt just when you don,t need it.p.s air up those tires .
- wildtoadExplorer IIpropane for everything - fridge, water heater, etc. depending on how far you’re driving you may consider turning the fridge off until you get where you’re going. To NOT run the furnace if you only have one battery. Do you have a generator to take with you to charge the battery if needed?
