- HangDiverExplorerBest time to buy was yesterday. If you don't have a travel trailer today, you can't use it tomorrow.

Ditto. Most RV dealers in areas highly populated by Snowbirds are very slow during the summer. It's amazing how things pick up during the winter. Have to wait weeks for service during the winter, vs. almost same-day appts. during the summer.Dirtpig wrote:
Unless you're in the southern US in which case this may not apply, particularly in Florida and Arizona where many people buy their first RV at retirement and do so in those states during the winter.
November, December, or January. - Passin_ThruExplorerSave up your money, fold it half and put back in your pocket. You can double it that way. I usually look around Christmas and tax time.

Any idea about which time of year is best to buy a travel trailer?
Truth is. RVs / travel trailers are selling at such volume. The time to buy is when you find the one you want. Wait for winter, and it won't be there, Wait for Spring, and it won't be there. Wait for fall, it won't be there. And really. There isn't a dime difference in the price spring or fall. It is just that in the winter you will be buying a TT that has sat on the lot longer
This is WRONG! Dealers definitly lower their year end models in Nov/Dec to avoid paying the interest on their floorplan! We bought ours in mid Nov and they cut price another 5000 to get it off their lot! Many others on this forum state same thing! - temccarthy1Explorer

Fall early winter. Dealers want the inventory gone before snow flies.
X2-- Definitly. We bought ours at year end in Nov when dealership was quiet and saved over 5000 compared to their "sale" price and the exact same TT in the next model year! - rjf7gExplorerRight now! I have two for sale :W
- colliehaulerExplorer IIIThe worst time to buy is in the spring when there is a high demand. Same can be said about boats as well as RV'S.
- lewisrExplorerWhenever there is a RV show in your area.
- LantleyNomadI'm another believer in December,January when the sales are absolutely dead.
You must have done your homework prior to this point. It will not be a good time to start or browse. You will need to be ready to walk in and close the deal on the unit you want. I factory ordered my unit and got a very competitive no nonsense price.
No matter what most RV dealerships in off season locations are losing money in the winter months. They are willing to accept a mediocre low margin/profit deal just for the cash flow. There is very little traffic during these months you will have the dealers full attention.
But I must emphasize you must be ready to place your order or buy off the lot. The question and answer period should be over at this point. The dealer needs to know you are a no nonsense ready to buy customer. - colliehaulerExplorer IIIDecember, they want it gone by Jan 1st so they don't have to pay inventory tax on it.
