Truth is. RVs / travel trailers are selling at such volume. The time to buy is when you find the one you want. Wait for winter, and it won't be there, Wait for Spring, and it won't be there. Wait for fall, it won't be there. And really. There isn't a dime difference in the price spring or fall. It is just that in the winter you will be buying a TT that has sat on the lot longer
  • find the one that fits your needs, barter till the price is right for you. you found the best time.

Unless you're in the southern US in which case this may not apply, particularly in Florida and Arizona where many people buy their first RV at retirement and do so in those states during the winter.

By buying in November we save ~15% over buying the same unit in the Spring. This was a relatively inexpensive unit so the percentage might not be as high on a more expensive unit (fixed carrying costs vs interest cost).
  • Our dealer claims that February in northern Indiana is his slow time. However, slow does not mean no sales; it means more people are looking during the winter doldrums and planning for spring. So business is brisk but sales not so much.

Most of these folks will be back in 4 to 6 weeks. We are lucky to have several large dealerships with in a 50 mile radius, so prices stay competitive.

Personally I believe you buy a TT when the floor plane, cost and tow vehicle cargo capacity limits are all okay. This is regardless of the time of year.

    Good Luck
  • I bought in December. The dealer bent over backwards on the price, about a 40 percent discount, and got a new 5th wheel hitch/with installation thrown In on the deal. Sales are way down because of Christmas.
  • Fall early winter. Dealers want the inventory gone before snow flies.
