There is no way around that AC issue. Typically Yosemite should be cool at night so AC only needed in the day.
You can do some mods to reduce the AC wind noise by maybe 4 decibels, but that is not much.
They make styrofoam baffles for one or two brands of Ac that go inside the ceiling unit and direct the airflow smoothly out the vents which reduce a lot of the noise that comes from the air gong across sharp edges.
In my camper I removed the vent directional fins on the bed side. This reduced some noise, and I really do not need to direct the air anyway.
I havent tried earplugs yet, but AC still keeps me up. If I live with it every night I would eventually get used to it, but even hearing the compressor turn on and off stimulates my brain to think about it all.
It is too loud. I wish I had the layout to allow a window unit to be installed somewhere far from bed and under something so most of the noise would be muted...
