First off WELCOME to forum and to RVng!!!
Just a few things.
Max Tow Rating.....that is a mfg. marketing magical number based on a stripped down model with a 150# driver and 20# cargo.
Real World.....you will run out of 'payload' (Cargo carrying capacity CCC) long before reaching that magical max tow number.
Your Cherokee has a GVWR of 6500# (Max that vehicle can weigh full of passengers, fuel, stuff, hitch & tongue weight)
Payload (CCC) is only 1020# ===== that is amount you can carry in vehicle. Gets ate up quickly.
Load up the Cherokee for camping (You/ALL passengers/stuff--bags-backpacks/fuel etc), go to a CAT Scales and get weighed.
This will give you Front Axle weight, Rear Axle Weight and Total Weight.
With those numbers you can figure how much real world weight you can tow.
Cherokee Total weight subtracted from GVWR
F/R Axle weights subtracted from Axle Weight Ratings.
That Lance 1685 has a GVWR of 5500# so a possible tongue weight of 660# (12%)
That would be IF fulled loaded to GVWR.
Depending on Cherokee Actual weight numbers the Lance could very well match up.
Go get weighed! :B
