Where in or near Reno?

I stayed at the KOA in Reno for 1 night. It is located next to Cabelas. It was OK.

Don't know about TC'ing, but Circus Circus has great rates. :)

Are you just stopping to rest and take off in the AM, if so The Nugget on I-80. Ask security and they'll direct you to parking. If you're going to take the camper off the truck, no idea.

The grand sierra resort also has trailer/mh parking and is just off 395 and I80 I have been through there, havent stayed cuz I live in reno, but it seems to be a nice little camping area.

There is also camping at Sparks Marina, a little man made lake. it is supposed to be nice.

If your looking for someplace more wooded, you can camp at a few of the nearby reservoirs like Stampede or Boca.

Good Sam has a list of places you can stay in or near reno with info and ratings.

We stay at the fairgrounds in Fallon...a bit of a drive, but quiet and cheap :)

I think the problem here is "taking the camper off the truck". If you leave it on, you can park in almost any of the open, street level parking lots at the big casinos. Seems to me Circusx2 has hook ups. We live close enough to Reno that we never TC there. Jeanie always gets comped rooms at the PepperMill, so the big, plush room trumps the TC for us. We have pulled into the Pepper Mill after a long trip somewhere, and parked the TC in the parking lot, but checked into a room nonetheless. It's just the last stop on the way home.
I'd get on Circusx2's website to see if hookups are available and just leave the TC on.

We stayed at Sparks Marina for 8 days in May. It is squeaky clean and super nice. We don't usually stay in RV "resorts", but we needed to be near elderly relatives while they had medical treatment and they chose this spot for us. We didn't have the smallest rig there but came close. It was a friendly, welcoming place and we felt safe. lizzie

Only the Circus Circus in Vegas has the campground beside it (KOA). I stayed there just before heading to Reno.

Thanks guys. Gave us some good places to start. The reason we were thinking of dropping the camper is we want to go check out some of the nearby towns and it just seems it might be easier to travel around bareback. Things are still kind of up in the air right now.

You should have no problem checking out all the towns around reno with the camper. But if you must drop it the grand sierra rv park or Koa boomtown. I love to go up the hill in that area. Keep the camper on and go camping in any of the towns or just outside of them its all blm land you can camp just about anywere.
