Texas just changed their inspection rules to include many more RV's, thus the local shop had a refresher course in RV inspection. I assume he was telling the truth when he said its Texas law to;
1- Hook the breakaway cable to the TV in some other spot than the hitch/ where the safety chains attach.
2- Never weave it through the chains.
We have a carabiner hooked to the TV frame off to the drivers side. The factory supplied breakaway cable has a loop at the end which makes for easy attachment. I'll google search for the exact code.
