Fun experiment (to watch) for sure. But again, the premise of the breakaway cable is that the trailer is still attached to the truck via safety chains. In the event that the receiver disengaged from the ball, the trailer will lock up 100% on the brakes. I am visualizing this and thinking the trailer could still survive this situation under good circumstances, but no matter what the case, this would be a very bad start/ending to a trip for sure!
