I am surprised that some states do not allow the cable to be woven though the chain, the dealership did it to keep the cable from dragging on the ground when I picked up the TT.
The dealer said the cable must be hooked to the frame separate from the safety chains. The idea was that if the chain came loose the cable would still be attached.
I would say, in an accident, all bets are off.
