I would think that if the cable is loosely woven through the chain and attached separately as it is supposed to be; if the TT comes loose and is no longer held by the chains, the end secured to the TV would pull the safety switch.
However, there would be the possibility of the cable being fouled by the chain and not be able pull the switch pin before the cable breaks. A good reason to keep the cable separate.
Then again, a separate cable increases the possibility of it being pinched, smashed, kinked, drug along the ground and worn thin etc. Thus compromising the cable integrity.
Sort of a darned it you do darned if you don't.
