Well I was taking to the shop to have it checked as some suggested it could have been a bad injector and it was not that as it threw a rod through the block. I never noticed oil pressure drop either before the knocking and I checked the only 2 weeks ago however I did notice a new oil leak the other day. Anyways it is at the shop now and will will have another engine sometime soon. I will let you know how it all turns out. I looked at Cummins as they have a Cummins dealer here and they want 7K for a long block and 12K for a drop in and it could take a couple months as they build according to your ESN. I need this thing within the next 23 days as I am retiring from the Army and will be attending training in CA.
Man that sucks... The infamous cummins threw a rod. I'm been hearing more and more of this happening.
Good luck...$$$
Why am I not surprised that you would be the first to comment on this? Or that you have been hearing "more and more of this happening' Never one to miss a chance to bag on Cummins/RAM/ Chrysler, are you troller?
:R
OP, best of luck for a speedy and as economic as possible repair. And thanks for your service.
Why am I not surprised you would be the first to criticize! :R
I've seen several reports this year of bottom end failures on 6.7 cummins and I even posted a link to one of those failures here to those that turn a blind eye like yourself. :W
In addition during every Christmas I meet with my cousin (As you like to report my neighors, aunts, second cousin, distant relative that heard it on the net or there about's as you like to describe) and he reported his shop replaced 2 cummins engines this year due to lower end failures so I find it interesting another one just popped up here.
Having said that I feel for the OP as this will be a costly repair especially when his current engine parts are useless as a boat anchor which will cost even more $$$$.
