The rash of 6.7L bottom end failures is due to fuel dilution from being in Regen too much. This does not apply to the 5.9L.
Do you have a reference for the "rash" of failures?
Please enter "Cummins 6.7L fuel dilution problems" into the search engine of your choice.
PS - By rash, I meant more problems than the 5.9L. I did not mean to imply that there was a sudden increase with that problem recently. If anything, the addition of DEF should have reduced the occurrences.
I appreciate the reply!
I entered what you said and several variations including this "Cummins 6.7L fuel dilution engine failure" and not one mention of any type of engine problem or failure!
All that was talked about was fuel dilution being a problem. I agree it is a problem but if a person uses the 07.5 thru 12 6.7 like a truck instead of a grocery getter the fuel dilution will not be problem.
Example I have tested my oil twice on my 11 HO CUMMINS 6.7 and both times the dilution was less than .05%. It may have been anything between that and zero. That is the lowest number they list for that test.
So maybe someone can post a actual problem that was caused by fuel dilution. A stuck injector does not count!
