G&N Auto Salvage in El Paso has a long block diesel for $4,000. Mileage is not noted on Car-Parts.com.
There's a salvage yard in Grand Prairie that has some.
Used engines run from $4000-$5500 depending on mileage. If you're willing to drive a distance, they're available used. I'd hate to see what they want for a factory rebuilt Cummins. They're pretty ridiculously priced.
A good diesel mechanic could have rebuilt your engine if the rod wasn't sticking through the block.
