Sorry to hear you had an issue with your Ram Carl, as was pointed out (and misunderstood by the local Ram hater), beings that the truck had already had an engine go south within one year from date of manufacture, it seems this poor thing has had a rough life (Note I'm talking about before Carl owned it). Sad you didn't find out about this before you bought it!
The 5.9 is about the best diesel out there bar none, but when abused no vehicle is safe, as you said NO manufacture is immuned from problems, not any of them.
