The generator weight doesn't matter that much as long as your tow vehicle can stand it. It's not like you have to lift the generator up there that much. Mine has been sitting on the rack for over a year and I've never found a reason to remove it. It's bolted down and locked pretty good with some custom locks I fabricated. I keep it covered with an outboard motor cover I got from BassPro. Works great.
Just remove the cover, crank it up and plug in. No windows up front to worry about and the air conditioner is louder than the Honda. The net keeps the cover from flapping going down the road.
