It actually makes good sense. U-Haul has one of the largest truck fleets in the world, and as such has many mobile mechanics, as well as mechanics in most United States cities to work both on their own fleet of trucks as well as customer vehicles.
Yes they should be installing a #10 wire to a relay that is only on when the engine is running, then to a 30 amp automatic re-set circuit breaker, then to the trailer plug harness. This will charge the RV battery while towing.
