Honestly wind resistance does matter as my rig is 101" wide and 13' 5" tall. But weight is a biggie as the grade increases.
For sure they both limiting factors. What I'm getting at tho, I've towed an 8,000 pound open trailer with a tractor on it and towed easier than a 6,000 travel trailer. Too many of these tests, they just put weight on an open trailer and there much less wind resistance than a fifth wheel or travel trailer. At lower speeds of course weight is more of a factor. But at 60, wind resistance seems to be the bigger factor.
Agree 100%. I tow the "Ike" several times per year. My 2012 CTD will not maintain the speed limit towing my 12,000 pound 5er. Actually I end up around 40 MPH at the top. Buddy with a 13 Powerstroke pulling a very similar trailer is the same way.
