After six years of camping, we've settled on a different method. I back in and the rest of the crew yell really loud if I get close to anything. If I want to see whats back there or evaluate the situation, I get out and go back. It became clear early on that me giving backing spotter lessons was not going to work. They simply refuse to do what I ask and it became very aggravating. So now, I just punt. Makes for a much nicer experience. The good news is, I'm also much better at backing than I used to be, so that helps. We got into some real dust-ups early on. Ruined the whole weekend sometimes.
