I am getting 5-6mpg going west and 7-8 going east. Any head wind, will drop mpg to 6mpg. I am yet to see 9-10 even in Flats.
Yes, the hybrid is totally useless when towing. I learned this the hard way. I probably would have gone in a different direction if I had known this as well as the fact the tank is only 30g so range kind of sucks. I never expected mpgs to drop to 1/4 of regular driving when towing. My older trucks drop mpgs in half not this dramatic. The truck does have its appeal when not towing. It is just the ra ge that gets to me.
I usually drive 60-62mph. Easy on the gas pedal.
Do you have any recommendations on a good low profile trailer with similar floor plans to either? Most of what I have looked at seem to be 10ft 5in to 11ft 2 inches tall.
Thank you
Sounds about right mileage for such small displacement engine under heavy load, those trailers are big, tall and heavy, not a good combination for getting good mileage for any vehicle..
Typically 11ft high RVs are in the 5th wheel category for height, NORMAL trailers will be around 8ft in height.
Since your vehicle is a "compromise" your going to have to look for a different floor plan trailer which is not as tall, not as heavy and perhaps not as long.
To give you something to consider, my 2019 and 2020 F250 supercab 4x2 with 6.2 trucks towing a 26ft TT with height of 8ft weighs about 6500 lbs loaded and I easily can get 9.5MPG to high of 11.0 MPG towing in mountains running average of 70MPH. Empty mileage runs 15MPG-16MPG.. In reality, I get not all that much lower empty mileage than a F150 Eco or Powerboost when you think about it for the brute strength of more displacement.
With 11ft height and weight of your trailer selection, I would expect the towing mileage to drop at least 1 MPG possibly 2 MPG MORE than my current TT if I was towing it with my vehicles.
I don't have any suggestions on a trailer that fits your bill other than you need to scrap your preferred layout and move on to something that has less height and weight. There are many TTs out there that do not have height over 8ft..
