Which Pickup, to first generate over 1000 ft. lbs. torque ?

Which pickup truck make, will have the first engine generating over 1000 ft. lbs. of torque and over 900 HP ?

To be honest by now, I would of thought the torque and HP wars for pickup trucks would have been finished.

But no sign of it. Cars too, seem to have ever increasing power levels....witness the new Dodge Hellcat....with a 707 hp, supercharged Hemi V8.

As in trucks....I'm sure Ford will up the ante....hp/torque wise...then GM....then Dodge once again. The oneupmanship cycle will continue.

It's gotta stop somewhere, I think.

Where do you think the maximum HP/torque ratings, of pickup trucks...and cars... will be in ...5 years...10 years ?

Do you think it will stop....somewhere....some time ?

  • The great part about more HP/TQ in a Diesel the mileage really does not suffer. Unless you step in it!

I'd be just as happy with a 250-300 hp 550-600 lb ft torque diesel that nets me over 20 mph or right about there for a typical 8600-9900 gvwr twuck! Not sure it is going to happen with a 500/1000 motor. THat is in the range of some class 8 tractors hauling 80-100K lbs around at one time. Probably a min power out put today....but still...........

Blt2ski, almost agree , maybe just over 300 hp and about 650 to 700 lb. ft. of torque.
There are many that that get more than 1,000 lb. ft. of torque, but not likely going to go 500,000 to 1,000,000 miles.

I see a Cummins reaching 1,000 lb. ft. at about 500 hp, don't know if we will see too soon, but then again.
