About 50% of the time I'm towing with the TC on, I have 7 ton deckover equipment trailer hitched to the truck.I've been using a standard-length ball mount in my Reese Titan 2-1/2" receiver for the equipment trailer, but it is a little close for comfort. There isn't a lot of clearance under the TC overhang, and I can't turn very short or I'll hit a jack on the tongue of the trailer.If I could just get a ball mount that was 4-6" longer between the cross pin and the ball center, I'd have plenty of room. Even 2" would make a world of difference. Since there is a huge price in rigging for a "custom" anything, you would likely be far better off to buy an off the shelf extension and have it cut down to the length you need.

There is no "off the shelf" extension for what I want to do.

There is probably a reason they are not made, too long too much tongue weight

WD changes everything. The WD bars reduce the moment caused by the tongue weight even with the added moment arm length.

They would also be liable, but I expect they have more engineers and lawyers than the local fab shop.

I'm intrigued as to how you think this would work.

Cut WHAT off? If I cut the box tube off, that shortens the shank. If I cut the flat bar off, that shortens the shank too, not to mention other problems that arise, such as not having a place to attach the ball...

I think you need to contact torklift, if the 48" truss can take 12,000 and 1,200 tongue then if they cut one down it will find your application.

you could step into a 3" hitch but I don't see one listed off the bat for your truck and then accessories are limited for that right now.

Flip the 7" drop and cut off what you don't need.

This doesn't have the weight rating you are looking for but may work , depending on load . I just measured my Reese 2" solid shank WD ball mount , part # 54917 .

length center pn to center ball = 14"
weight rating 1200/12000

The receiver is a Reese Titan, and is rated for 2000lbs WC, 2500lbs WD. If it can't handle a 1000-1200lb tongue load at 4-6" out, I give up!

They make longer shanks with the heavy ratings, but they have 7" drops.
