I don't get how so many add so much camper to trucks that are overloaded by them. My '01 GMC 2500 HD 4x4 with a long box, extended cab, and 6 liter V8 has a CCC of 2416# stated in the glove box. You can add a little to that as it's based on all six passenger seats being filled with passengers who weigh 150# each but still...
Anyway, I've been bouncing around looking at small travel trailers or campers to replace the larger 5ver that we currently have. This truck used to carry a Lance Squire 4000 with my wife and, then, toddlers just fine. I remember shortly after 9/11 that we were headed to SoCal and I had the truck loaded for bear. Stopped at the local scales and we were almost maxed out to the truck's 9200# GVWR with about 100# to spare on the rear axle.
As the truck has been long paid for and has under 69k miles, I ain't buying another truck!
