I'm sympathetic with the OP's post. A little time spent in this diversion known as RV'ing can leave a person a little jaded, even cynical. While it's no guarantee, the more you spend, the bigger your hopes and expectation for quality. In the RV universe, the towable hard side bumper pull trailer is at the lower end of the spectrum. Fifth wheels are the top end of the towable hierarchy in price and appointments, and with some manufacturers, build quality as well. I have owned one of each, and had no illusion the TT would not be the equal of the fifth wheel and it wasn't in quality, though it doesn't appear to have been haphazardly slapped together either. End of the day we're happy to have the TT, it better suits our usage and is a lot lighter and considerably less complex with systems than the fifth wheel, which translates to a cheaper ownership experience for us. Different strokes, that's all.
