Whoa ! Major design/manufacturing change in CampLite TT

I just found out that as of 2017, CampLite TT no longer use a "solid" aluminum floor ! They still do on their toy haulers, but not on their travel trailers.

They have gone to a composite/sandwhich floor made up of a aluminum and foam. This would be a huge cost savings, but according to one dealer, those savings have NOT been passed on !

I am NOT condemning composite/sandwich floors, but their design is not as straight forward as the same construction in walls. Further more, I do not believe that Azdel (which in theory should be a good material for the under skin) is "approved" by the manufacturer for use in load bearing horizontal application. Other "light" RV manufacturers have tried this design and I believe that most (all?) have gone back to plywood.
  • Didn't they start out as 6 sided aluminum boxes in the beginning? Haven't they already replaced the aluminum roof too? Now they're down to aluminum skin on 4 sides...
  • Everyone is trying to build a better mousetrap. Give them credit for at least trying!
  • Even though we have a 10.0 TC glad it's a 2013 before they sold out to Thor.
  • The cost savings is probably offset with increased materials cost or other components being more expensive.
