Something to consider:
you might need extra wide mirrors using a truck with less width.
Power wise : I did tow with the same HP rating but diff truck :
I towed 4 place flat front enclosed snomo trailers with similar HP and torque ratings and found hill climbs to be ok but I lacked that 'seat in the pants kick' when I tried to pass someone. It held 55-65 mph but lacked punch beyond that. I felt maxed out at those speeds where the full size diesel dually's were passing me at 75 mph. (uphill :) ) towing similar 4 place trailers.
I now tow about 6500# with a 5.3 full size GM gasser and feel like it has an easier job to do while passing with hill climbs at about the same . Therefore the 5.3 gasser feels like it has more power than the less HP diesel engine with the approx same torque.
What is your real rolling TW ? approx 600# ?
What is the payload of the truck with the diesel option ?
Now pack that truck as you would for a trip including passengers and equipment .
Will you be able to haul what you plan to bring ?
