I agree, I towed a 30 foot travel trailer with a mercedes SUV. Best vehicle I ever towed with.
In the process of shopping for the truck, we were finally told, in some detail, why towing with an MB is risky. there's nothing in the MB manual about using a WDH and no one had been able to explain to us whether or not we could use one. Turns out that you can't, because of the way the vehicle frame s designed and built. So the options are to violate the 600# hitch weight limit and tow without the WDH, or use the WDH and risk eventually torquing the vehicle frame. Too much expensive car to risk it. Hence the new truck.
