I have towed my current trailer with the same hitch with three different vehicles. All three had different wheel bases and all three handled the trailer differently. Longer wheelbase was a lot more stable.
Also, stiffer rear suspension was a lot more stable. I had a pickup with a longer wheelbase but softer suspension and it felt worse then the SUV with shorter wheelbase and stiffer suspension (air bags) so I installed extra leaf springs into the pickup truck and had much better handling.
