So instead of letting the wife use the 150 HD towing machine as a grocery getter, I'll buy her one of them 1500 Ecodiesels. I just love that commercial of that empty truck cruising down the payment empty & from Sam Elliott's narration, I take it, that it can't pull anything anyways, about all it's good for is carrying a couple bags of groceries, if that much and instead of wife getting 17 or 18 mph in town w/the boost she can get 21 or maybe 22 with the diesel. You know come to think of it, that 70 G's must have been a dream + her 2012 Fusion is a great grocery getter at 27 MPH in town. Oh I just love my HD 150. Ain't life great with all our choices. Ya'all have a fantastic day.
With the Ecodiesel you have to factor in the vastly increased Diesel prices (around here Diesel just went under $3/gallon) and increased maintenance. Some guys on the Ram forums are reporing $80 DIY oil changes on the Ecodiesel. That erases any MPG savings.
But it would take 3 to 4 oil changes in the gas truck to the one $80 oil change in the diesel. Oil changes are actually cheaper from my experiance comparing my 5.7 hemi's to my diesel. This has been debated to death and everyone has an opinion, my experiance is gas or diesel truck, at the end of the day cost the same. One cost less up front and you get less I pm trade, one cost more and you get more in trade. It all including price per mile for fuel equals out at the end of the day.
