Why are GM's 1500 and 2500HD roughly the same price?

I went to the website and built the same truck with the same options in the 1500 and the 2500 for both sierra and silverado. Silverado 1500 $41,285 Silverado 2500 $43,235 Sierra 1500 $42,92...

The GMC and Chevrolets are exactly the same. They come off the same assembly line using the same exact components. The difference is trim and badges.


Re-read the question Donn0128. It's why is there very little difference in price between the 1500 and the 2500, not GMC vs Chevy.
