Hard to build a rounded arch out of lumber that is straight.
They did, back in the day, have rounded roof barns. The neighbor has one. I always wondered how it was done until I went inside his. The rafters are all made of 1x6's . Each piece of 1x6 is cut to a shape and then 4 of them are nailed together to make a rafter with a round in it. Of course this barn was made well over 100 year ago. Can you image the labor cost going into building something like that these days????
