Why cant I use ratchet straps for tie downs????

Everyone seems to have the fastguns and have to buy locks too, they look super nice, but, nearly $500. I just bought some Torklift XL's for just over $200 for 4 and they seem to work great and are easy to put on and take off. My 2 cents.
