Why cant I use ratchet straps for tie downs????

Remember that your truck frame is constantly flexing when driving over uneven surfaces. If you mount your TC totally rigid and your TC can't flex as much as your truck frame, something will have to "give" eventually. I always recommend using at least two spring loaded tie downs. Four is better, but two will usually keep severe damage from occurring.
