Straps are fine as long as you don't over tighten them.
With the Fastguns and similar tie downs it is easy to see that there is 300 lbs. of force being applied to each corner of the camper. With ratchet straps there is no way to know how much force is being applied and at 600 lbs. you can expect the anchor points in the camper to start pulling out and damaging the internal structure as well as opening up outer seams in the camper.
Want to save money, buy a used camper from someone who will include their Fastguns. Save even more by buying a truck and mounted camper combination as they are usually very low priced compared to buying either separately and the tie-downs and wiring and bed mat and Fastguns are included in the deal.
